Do you think that there should be a standard tie-breaking procedure? It changes from venue to venue and shoot to shoot. Wouldn't it just be a bit easier if we all knew each and every time what was being done to break the ties?
Each method has its' merits and its' problems. Stations, long runs, and shoot-offs are used around here. Should there be one method for shoots up to the State level and another for State and above? Is anything different done in your area?
I know that it is out of character for me to be serious on this site, but work with me this one time. Let me know what you think.

Tie-Breaker stations and Long Runs (reverse or front) are the best ways outside of shoot-offs. Problem with shoot-offs is that nobody stays until all the shooting is done unless they shot late rotations. Everyone wants to "shoot and scoot".

Shoot where it's going, not where it's been!

I like tie-breaker stations and longs runs. Unfortunatly for me,right now because of family obligations I've become one of those "shoot and scoot" guys, so if it came to a shoot off and I was a good distance from home, I'd be gone. It is nice going into the shoot to know what procedure is going to be used to settle a tie, I feel some new shooters never even consider the possibility of ending up in one.

You mean I'd have to trade the HHR for an SSR?
One of my fondest memories is of Pat, Irene, and I sitting on the rockers on the front porch at Blue Ridge in 2008. I would wave when my name was called for a shoot-off. Coming from the rifle side, I believe that shoot-offs are for perfect scores and super-finals.

We need to work on the bomb shelter today. We have to be finished before the campaign starts.
